Circul’Air is a pilot project that investigates and demonstrates alternative ventilation concepts that are better suited to a circular economy, in collaboration with Juunoo and Renson. Using simulations and prototypes, the project aims to develop solutions that improve compatibility between innovative ventilation concepts and systems designed for flexible space allocation.
In order to prepare the school infrastructure of the province of Antwerp for 2050 in a sustainable manner, we had to rethink traditional school concepts in the project ‘The circular school’. Our mission was to maximise space utilisation, prioritise flexibility and ensure that these facilities would serve a broader social purpose. In collaboration with the province of Antwerp and Cenergie, we formed a multidisciplinary consortium to effectively address these challenges.
The Circular School for the Future project is a collaboration between Groep Van Roey, VITO, VUB, WTCB and the University of Antwerp. In 2020, a simultaneous doctoral research project was also launched at the University of Antwerp, focusing on HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) in circular schools. This doctoral research will add an in-depth scientific perspective to the practical aspects of future projects.
The Circular Procurement project is a unique and innovative research initiative by Bureau Bouwtechniek and the University of Antwerp, with the support of Flanders Circular. The project aims to promote the transition to reversible and demountable constructions through knowledge sharing, co-creation and awareness raising.
